Olympus Announces Compact Super-Wide Zoom

The Zuiko Digital ED f/4.0-5.6, 9-18mm lens has the same angle of view as an 18-36mm zoom on a 35mm camera.

Olympus has announced a compact new super-wide zoom lens for its E-series digital SLRs. The Zuiko Digital ED f/4.0-5.6, 9-18mm optic has the same angle of view as an 18-36mm lens on a 35mm camera. When mounted, the lens extends 3 inches from the camera body and weighs just 9.88 ounces.

The 9-18mm lens will be available in the fall of 2008 for an estimated street price of $599.99.
